Madonna di Campiglio

Madonna di Campiglio

Madonna di Campiglio, in the province of Trento, is one of the most famous ski resorts not only in Italy, but in Europe, so much so that the special slalom races of the World Cup are also held on its slopes.

The Madonna di Campiglio area includes landscapes that are unique for their naturalistic beauty. They range from the spectacular rocky architectures, made up of the typical Dolomite rocks that at sunset take on a pink color, to the green of the pastures and woods, to the blue of the limpid alpine lakes.
The average altitude of the town is about 1,500 meters above sea level and is located in a basin between the Presanella, the Brenta Dolomites and the Adamello.

The peculiarity of the place is that its territory, inhabited by about a thousand people, is divided between two neighboring municipalities: the town center is part of Pinzolo, while some hamlets belong to Ragoli.
In summer, tourists can walk for hours to discover enchanting places in the Adamello – Brenta Park along the numerous trekking routes of varying difficulty.
For many of them it is not necessary to have special equipment, but only suitable shoes and a great desire to immerse themselves in nature. You can choose to go around the waterfalls or the refuges, go up to the various lakes that dot the area or take the romantic walk of the Empress, following in the footsteps of the walks of Princess Sissi who loved this place so much.
The sports that can be practiced are almost infinite. Those who want to can try their hand at mountaineering, but there are also mountain bike trails, golf courses, tennis courts or carriage rides for the lazy. In winter, skiers can really find all kinds of slopes, from the “world” 3Tre to routes to be descended on a snowboard and, of course, there is no shortage of cross-country skiing trails or even “ciaspolade”. There are 60 kilometers of slopes and 19 ski lifts, including those that connect the town with Pinzolo.
In Madonna di Campiglio there is also the Ursus Park which is defined as the most beautiful snow park in the entire Alpine chain, but one of the experiences not to be missed is the sleedog, the race on a sled pulled by dogs.

After the walks, the descents on skis or any other activity, you absolutely need a little relaxation and you can find your well-being in a spa, or you can simply wander around the streets of the town center to do some shopping among the shops that have nothing to envy to the city ones.

As far as catering is concerned, you are spoiled for choice, there are elegant restaurants, others more traditional, or you can have an excellent meal based on typical dishes in a farm or in a refuge.
The after dinner can instead be spent in one of the many nightclubs and bars that also offer entertainment, but there is no shortage of discos for the youngest.
Before leaving Madonna di Campiglio to go home, a shopping of local gastronomic products is a must to remember the flavors that have marked a wonderful holiday and so on when buying Spressa, the typical salami with garlic, local cheese and a few bottles of excellent Trentino wines, marzemino and teroldego or the typical distillate flavored with gentian.
