Lake Levico

At the foot of the renowned spa town of Levico, in the heart of Trentino, lies the lake of the same name, which is a particularly pleasant and relaxing place to spend your holidays or just a short weekend away from everyday chaos. It is located at an altitude of about 450 meters and with its elongated shape (called fjord-shaped) it seems almost set in the Colle di Tenna, forming a picturesque fjord reminiscent of those of northern Europe. The Brenta river originates from the Levico and Caldonazzo lakes.

New in 2013: Lido di Levico beach has been awarded the 2013 blue flag, a guarantee of an excellent beach, with perfect water and excellent services.

How to get here:
Located a few kilometers from Trento, Levico is easily reachable by car or by train on the Trento – Venice (Valsugana) line, on the Rome-Munich line, or directly from Venice. Those who prefer to use the car, on the other hand, must take the A22 Brenner motorway and exit at Trento, then take the Valsugana state road 47, skirt the Caldonazzo lake to arrive, after a few kilometers, at their destination with the Levico Terme exit.

Thermal properties of the area:
The whole area has been famous since the early years of the last century, when its spas attracted nobles from all over Europe who dedicated themselves to the treatment of various diseases thanks to the therapeutic properties of the arsenical-ferruginous waters with their characteristic dark red color. Over the years many hotels have sprung up, of various categories, with adjoining wellness centers and spas that exploit the characteristics of these waters.

Practicable activities:
Lake Levico, together with that of Caldonazzo not far away, has acquired over the years a growing tourist importance to become a popular destination for anyone who decides to stay in these places. For this reason, it currently also has two well-equipped bathing establishments and a free beach surrounded by a pleasant and luxuriant park. On its banks there are also numerous reeds and along the southern part they give rise to a real paradise for naturalists, where it is possible to observe various species of birds including coots and grebes.
Naturally, then, there are many sports and leisure activities that can be practiced on the lake: from bathing to fishing, from windsurfing to walking or, even better, by mountain bike or horse. In this case there are several routes with various levels of difficulty, which run along the lake and then proceed towards Tenna through often isolated but certainly characteristic paths.

Due to the variety of tourist offers, Lake Levico, with its accommodation facilities, is suitable for romantic weekends, sports or nature holidays, wellness or complete relaxation stays. In its vicinity, then, there are small architectural jewels to visit, such as the churches of Levico Terme, the church of San Biagio on the hill of the same name or the ancient church of San Valentino. Moreover, among the tourist attractions, Levico offers interesting Austro-Hungarian fortifications such as Forte Vera, Forte Vezzena or Forte Col del Bene, even if the real highlight is the Habsburg Park, a natural oasis that the added value of tranquility, since its creation in 1905; the park is home to giant Tuie and a thermal path that integrates perfectly with the numerous walks. Here, during the Advent period, the characteristic Christmas markets are organized which, thanks to the wooden houses, the lights and the colors, manage to create a truly unique and magical atmosphere not only for the little ones, but also for adults.
If you are staying in Levico in the summer, you must absolutely not miss a walk around the lake, perhaps at sunset or in the evening, to fully enjoy the magnificent spectacle it can offer. The walk takes about two hours and winds through a path that starts from the town and continues, then, in the midst of nature.
